Artist/Band Brief Information
ChaserChaser is a four-piece Indie outfit from Brighton UK, which was formed in January 2001 by singer/songwriter Sharky (not Fergal Sharkey). Their music has been likened to many things including 'The Doves', 'Badly Drawn Boy', and even 'Elvis Costello'. Well whatever it sounds like it's a mature, original, disgustingly infectious, beautiful noise. Since conception, Chaser has spent most of their time writing and thrashing out new material in the studio. What came out of this was a 4-track EP recorded during the summer of 2002, which is due for general release in August 2003 on Mirror Disc Records.
ChimpChimp are a six piece band specialising in their own unique brand of orchestral pop. VeldtVeldt is a three-piece Brighton based band who record and perform songs in their own unique style, with influences ranging from sixties film scores (Morricone, Barry, Budd) to the loops and samples of the darker corners of modern pop. Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Lloyd Wadey, guitarist/producer James Waterland and 'cellist/keyboardist Mike Alexander combine to create a textured, multi-layered sound, evocative of the melancholia-tinged urban landscape which their lyrics reveal - a world in which mornings are full of regrets, and paranoia threatens to engulf everything; in which no-one can quite function; a world where obsessive desire pursues its fatal logic, but at the same time salvation seems tantalisingly close. Yet, despite a strong sense of landscape and atmosphere, there's always a human emotional truth at the core of veldt's songs.
