A picture from GhettoFabulousGhettoFabulous : The Ghetto Fab experience is still talked about (beyond Brighton) because each DJ plays the very best of Hip-hop, R'n'B and UK Garage music. The GhettoFabulous experience is available every Friday night at the TZAR BAR (Kings Road Arches). The music is provided by RudeBen, 4sure and 12degrees.
Collective are Back : Carnival Collective are fresh back in Brighton having toured their Encounter Set to Glastonbury, Bradford Festival, Coburg Festival and others. They will be recording their new Set Live at the Honey Club on 9 September. Live Recording of the Samba Encounter Set will be on Tuesday 23rd September at The Honey Club, Brighton. Doors Open at 22:00. Tickets cost £4/ £3 concs which are available from the Dome Box Office 01273 709709 . Based in Brighton & Hove, Carnival Collective has forged an impressive reputation as one of Europe's foremost performing bands and carnival arts organisations. The 50-member group comprises a percussion group, a brass section, dancers, visual artists and workshop leaders. The performing band, inspired by Brazilian samba play live Breakbeat, Drum 'n' Bass, Ska, Reggae and other dance music. For more information visit the Carnival Collective web-site.
BBC in Brighton : BBC Radio 1 has announced that as part of their One Live In Brighton event the station would be committing to One Live Alternative, a series of gigs and club nights consisting entirely of local music talent. One Live Alternative will take place at the same time as the main event starting from Monday 27th October through to Sunday 2nd November. The station continues its commitment to grass roots level music making by inviting people who are interested in being part of One Live Alternative to email their details here. They will then be sent info on ways to get involved. Co-ordinating One Live Alternative will be local band and club promoters Anna Moulson (Melting Vinyl) and Lisa Lout. They said 'It's brilliant that Radio 1 are bringing the whole One Live event to Brighton'. If you're a band, DJ or promoter who wants to get involved in One Live Alternative then send a note to the e mail that's been set up to find out what to do.
